IELTS vs OET

IELTS and OET are not rival examinations. They are both prestige tests which share several similar features. For example, both test four separate language elements, Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Both may be cited as necessary qualifications by several bodies internationally. However, unlike IELTS, which covers a very broad spectrum of topics, the OET is totally framed in the context of the work medical professionals do daily, thus OET preparation can have the advantage of building on, and contributing directly and immediately to, a candidate’s professional development.
